Another tumblr-rant..

One would wonder why I still check it everyday?

Why post dozens of picture of models, & even drawings of people smoking when your real outlook is this;

Models make smoking so cool.. but in real life it suxxx

wot tha fock.
Leave the smoking to the smokers then; don't condone it if you DON'T CONDONE IT.

& that was my day.

Honestly, kids, the gig is up.

It's the reclusive fascination that isn't so hidden. It's the heartwrenching ordeal of kids around the world, the sacrificial lamb of subculture. It's the unwritten reversal of social hierarchy in the world; keywords being vintage, alternative, socially awkward.

On websites like tumblr, coolness can be counted through followers and reblogs, and the amount of pictures of naked girls, girls smoking, drug-related things (even without necessarily having done anything drug related), handwritten sentiments, crappy little drawings of animals, mediocre abstract photos, half-assed typography, pictures of stars, pictures of stars with triangles.. Seriously, tumblr consists of the aforementioned images, all stamped with indie approval.

The first rule about being cool is that you don't talk about being cool.

The second rule about being cool (it rhymes!)is that you don't talk about being cool.. but you dress like it, act like it, type like it and post like crazy..like it.

The indie culture doesn't mold people like you or me into awkward little flowers with alternative leaves and stems;

it's become inherently boring.

Its roots have reached mainstream soil and it's hit the surface, pathetically gasping for someone to take notice (or rather, the opposite). So-called 'indie' and 'alternative' bands are signed with major labels, making a killing from the money-fueled, cool-hungry hands of pubescent girls. Movies starring awkward girls and boys with scribbled titles snatching millions from box office sales. Face it, children. the truth about indie is that there is none. Not anymore.

The point to this post is not to condemn indie or its followers; vintage buyers and tumblr addicts alike. I'm simply sharing my observations; soon you'll move onto another trend once you realise everyone knows about it, everyone dresses like it. I think it's part of human nature to want to be different, which explains why we jump so fast from trend to trend to trend.

I admit, those images are from people I follow. Pictures like that are visually interesting, and at times artistically inspiring. But honestly, it's the same shit over and over again

I'm going to cry if I see another abstract polaroid.

Stop it.

A/N:

Saw this picture & I felt extra sick;

I wanted an octopus or squid tatt. : | I'm seeing more and more people with them on tumblr. Goddamn it.
& that was my day.
